Hi again, everyone here the headlines for August 25th. First up Twitter's former head of security has stated that the company misled Regulators about its poor cybersecurity and inability to root out fake accounts Peter zakko who served as a company security Chief until earlier this year filed a complaint with the SEC the FTC and the doj containing several accusations among these is that Twitter violated the terms of a 2011 FTC settlement by falsely claiming it had put stronger security features in place to protect the privacy of its users. Additionally there are claims against the deceptions and handling of its fake accounts.
This complaint could create serious problems for Twitter as they are already in a legal battle with Elon Musk over issues regarding fake accounts. Next Oracle. It is facing a new privacy class action claim in the US.
The lawsuit was filed as a 66 page complaint in California which asserts that Oracle has developed detailed dossias and up to five billion people violing the privacy of pretty much everyone on Earth. According to the complaint Oracle is collected vast amounts of data from internet users without their consent and it uses it to profile these individuals. The complaint against Oracle alleges several violations of laws, including the federal Electronic Communications Privacy Act the constitution of the State of California and the California invasion of Privacy Act.
in other news NASA has recently captured new telescopic images of the planet Jupiter which will give scientists more clues to Jupiter's inner life. NASA's James Webb Space Telescope used its near infrared camera to Showcase details of the planet. It's rings and satellites.
If you notice the red on the photo shows auroras while the yellows and greens show hazes around the planet's poles. The white bands show cloud coverage including the Great Red Spot and the darker areas indicate little cloud coverage. This image gives new information of the planet that will help scientists study the Dynamics and chemistry of Jupiter.
Next up in order to build Intel's 20 billion dollar semiconductor manufacturing operation in Ohio. It says it will need around 7,000 new construction workers. However, the state has already acknowledged that there is a not currently a pool of 7,000 extra workers in the central Ohio area with all the ongoing construction with a booming construction industry in the shortage of construction workers Intel is struggling to get the workers.
It needs to complete the new plants and this construction problem will only be exacerbated by future plans for their three new data centers by Google and Amazon in the same area. Combine this with a protection potential housing shortage risk from incoming workers and it makes it an interesting question for how to deal with this labor shortage. next up Instagram is testing a new feature called Candid challenges that appears to be similar to the fast growing social media platform.
