Gartner predicts that 80% of software engineering organizations will establish platform teams by 2026 and 75% of those will include developer self-service portals. In turn, platform engineers are using Spotify’s open platform, Backstage, to build internal developer platforms to help teams move quickly while staying within company standards. However, this is a lengthy and costly process—it’s challenging for platform teams to give and govern access to dedicated and shared Kubernetes clusters and namespaces.
