Hi again, everyone here the headlines for December 13th. First up NASA's Orion capsule splashed down into the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Mexico successfully completing the Artemis 1 mission. The capsule hit the atmosphere at Mach 32 with the re-entry temperature of 5,000 degrees Fahrenheit before splashing down west of Baja, California.
Inside the capsule were three test dummies rigged with vibration and radiation monitors with the NASA hailing both The Descent and Splashdown as being as close to perfect as it could be. This marks a crucial step forward for the space agency as it needed to have a successful Splashdown to remain on their plan for the next Orion flight around the moon in 2024, which will have four real astronauts instead of test dummies. Next Spain France and Portugal have agreed to build a major undersea pipeline to move hydrogen from the Iberian Peninsula to France.
This project which aims to be completed by 2030 will aim at making the eu's energy Supply more independent. The pipeline will be able to send 2 million metric tons of hydrogen to France annually, which amounts to 10% of eu's estimated needs. The project will connect two plants in Portugal and Spain and then we'll create a pipeline under the Mediterranean Sea to Marseille.
These countries are touting hydrogen is the technology the future and are saying that this will become The Benchmark in the field of hydrogen energy. In other news Microsoft is expected to acquire a 4% stake in the London Stock Exchange group the owners of the London Stock Exchange. Additionally Microsoft's stake is part of a 10-year partnership with the group.
The partnership will create a single product spanning data analytics and collaboration with the far-reaching goal of developing new solutions for financial institutions using machine learning and Analytics. The London Stock Exchange group has said that this partnership creates Revenue opportunities for both companies. And in addition.
It gives the London Stock Exchange group the backing of one of the biggest public Cloud companies to compete with Bloomberg for being the go-to platform for finance and investment workers. While on the topic of Europe the EU has set a date for the adoption of a universal phone charger. The EU announced that phone manufacturers must adopt a USB type-c charger by the end of December 2024 meaning no company can sell phones with old charging cables in the EU after that point.
Apple which is the biggest manufacturer of custom charging cables has said that it plans on complying with the law. In addition to phones this law will also cover several small and medium portable Electronics including headphones and tablets. However, this new law brings up questions as to how it will be implemented throughout brexit as the law could apply to Northern Ireland.
