com, as well as Security Boulevard Cloud native. ai and, and Textron tv. Welcome to the ninth Annual DevOps dozen 2020.

Well, the DevOps Dozen award winners, and this is for the year 2023. As some of you may know, about two years ago, we expanded the original DevOps dozen to what we call DevOps squared. It's really not squared, it's just dev a dozen times two, but there are 24 actual categories in the DevOps dozen.

Now, 12 of them are what we call community awards that are aimed, not necessarily at vendors, but at, uh, projects, companies, people, organizations in the community who are worthy of the DevOps dozen ca, uh, name, uh, being named a, a finalist and a winner of the DevOps doesn't. And then we have 20, uh, 12 commercial categories for the very best commercial offerings in DevOps. And, you know, for nine years now, the DevOps doesn't, has honored the best brightest and most impactful in DevOps.

And we try to stay true to that over the years. We, we've, uh, had to adapt and grow and change. Today's awards are a two stage or a two tier process where we have finalists after open nominations, and then we have voting 40% of the, uh, uh, tally for the finalists to be, you know, to, for a championship or for the champions come from public voting, from people like you casting their votes.

And this year we had more votes than ever. Um, and then 60% are from our judges. And I will tell you, having been a judge myself again this year, uh, it's rare that we go against the industry or the public's voting.

We, we generally go along with what the public says, especially if it's not close. If there's a lot of votes out there for a particular finalist, we, we don't want to, we don't step in there unless we feel that it's clear and compelling. Anyway, though, beyond a record amount of votes for the finalists this year, I gotta tell you that we had an overwhelming amount of nominations for this year's DevOps Dozen awards.

You know, a few years ago we put a nominal $250, uh, cost in for the commercial awards, hoping that would cut down the amount of nominations that come in. So it would be easier to manage and handle this, uh, this year between the community and commercial. I think we had near 400 or more than 400 people, or 400 nominations for the 24 categories.

It's hard. I can tell you that next year for 2024, we're gonna put some changes in that, cut that back down so it's more manageable and we have less finalist in a category, and it just makes it a lot easier for us to do that. However, I think the amount of nominations, the amount of votes, and the amount of everything that goes into DevOps Dozen in this year is an indication of the vitality of the DevOps market.

You know, I was talking to my friend Gidi Bonsai, uh, just recently. Ti of course, is the founder of AppDynamics. He's also the founder, CEO of Harness, as well as the founder, CEO of traceable ai.

And Jodi says, you know, all these people who are talking about is DevOps getting older? Is DevOps still working? 0, where instead of cobbling together tools and trying to figure out what the cultural norm should be, we figured out the culture.

We know what kind of functionality we want and tools and our next generation of tools coming out here are so much better than what came before. And so as we enter this new era of DevOps, this DevOps next Gen, I think our awards will and our categories will reflect that. In the meantime though, let's jump right into the winners of DevOps Dozen awards for 2023.

And we are gonna start with the community awards. Again, these are non vendor community awards. So category one in my mind is probably the most important one out here, and that is best DevOps Industry implementation.

This award honors organizations that have successfully adopted and implemented DevOps principles and practices. Um, the nominees are St. James Place in in partnership with Intellect Design Arena.

They talked about their DevOps journey. Udacity Udacity Pioneers program. Okay, those were the two, uh, finalists in that category.

And the winner of the 2023, uh, DevOps dozen community award feature is St. James Place in partnership with Intellect Design and Arena. Congratulations to St.

James Place and, and Intellect Design Arena. Well, well deserved. Well deserved.

Okay. Moving on to category two in the community Awards is the best DevOps survey, analysis or research. And this award recognizes REACH research that has significantly and positively impacted the DevOps community.

Uh, the finalists for this year's award were, and if I mispronounce, I apologize, JI'S report titled What's In Your Open Source Software? And that's a loaded question, the, in these days of, uh, of, uh, uh, uh, SBOs and software supply chain security. But, um, it, great report to check that out.

The next one is the shift to a security approach for the full application stack report that comes outta Cisco AppDynamics is another great report. The next finalist state of the API report by Postman. So this has become a yearly report for Postman.

They do a great job with it well deserved state of digital quality report by applause, the observability survey 2023 by Grafana Labs who are driving so much in, in observability. And great for them the global state of API security report by traceable AI API security has certainly become a big, big part of this charting observability research report by Edge Delta, the Accelerate State of DevOps report, perhaps the granddaddy of DevOps report, Dora DevOps research, right? We remember Dora, uh, and this year's version of it, another great year of Dora metrics and reports out there.

The 2023 state of IAC report from Firefly Great Company up and coming, and a great report there. The 2023 software engineering benchmarks report by Linear B. com, the 2023 software artifacts, state of the Union by jfr.

And the, uh, you know, the jfr research team's done great work this year. And then finally, the 2023 Observability Forecast Report by New Relic. Guys, this was an amazing category with an amazing collection of survey analysis and research.

It was hard between the judges and voting to pick a winner winner, but, you know, quality always rises to the top. And for almost a decade, the Dora Report, uh, state of, uh, Software, it's now Google, but was originally of course, gene Kim, Dr. Nicole Forger, and Jez humble at Dora.

But it, it's still, as I said, the Accelerate state of DevOps report is the granddaddy of reports and they are this year's winner once again of the 2023 DevOps dozen. Congratulations to them. Congratulations to Dora.

Moving on to category three best DevOps related video series. And I should mention that Text Trunk TV and all of our video series, and there are more than several, which are really good. Were ineligible to be nominated for this 'cause we had too many judges who are Textron affiliated, so we kept them out of it.

But, um, we have two simplified empathic NED in the Clouds Trans Terraform Tuesday series with Ned Bevan cube. Simplify again for best cloud native series and DevOps workshop DevOps toolkit by the DevOps toolkit, DevOps Exchange YouTube channel by the DevOps IF DevOps exchange people also put on a great event. And the winner for this year's DevOps dozen category.

For best DevOps related video series is DevOps Exchange, the DevOps Exchange YouTube channel. Congratulations to them well deserved. Next category four.

Best, best DevOps related podcast series, audio only. And for that one, our finalists were the modern mainframe by BMC software. Congratulations to them.

ML six ops, the ML SEC ops podcast by protect ai. Let's get to the news, the kubernete com community. Craig Box founded the Kubernetes podcast, uh, and he's now moved over to let's get to the news by the Kubernetes on the Kubernetes community, uh, DevOps paradox.

Of course, that's a pretty well known one. I myself listened to DevOps Paradox, uh, DevOps, an Agile Way Power podcast by my friend Powell Paz, a DevOps Institute ambassador. And he actually has been a guest on a number of our webinars.

He, uh, DevOp Powell does a great job. Um, DevOps interrupted linear B, again, great job by the linear B folks on this zero 800 DevOps podcast by Ivan Krin at Cross. And the winner for this year's, DevOps does an award for best DevOps related podcast series, DevOps Paradox.

Congratulations, the DevOps Paradox podcast. Okay, moving to category five for best DevOps ebook or book of the year. And there was some great ones again this year.

Um, the winner, well, let me, before we get to the winner, let me do the finals Unknown Federal Capital Development Authority, Abuja Niger Strategizing continuous Delivery in the Cloud game by Garima Bajal and Thomas Schutz. Red Book Accelerate Mainframe Application Modernization with hybrid cloud by IBM industrial DevOps it Revolution Press. Robin Yaman is co-author and great book crafting a Mainframe Modernization Roadmap by Broadcom Beyond Agile auditing three core components to revolutionize your internet audit practices.

By it, I have Revolution beyond Agile audit auditing, and the winner for this year's best DevOps book and ebook of the year is Industrial DevOps by IT Revolution. Robin Yemen and others. And, uh, congratulations to them.

Category six in the Community awards top DevOps evangelist and the finalists in this category were Victor Farik, Steven Chin, Sam Dion, Richie Hartman, Paul Paz, Mayak, Solanki, uh, linker Bank, CNF talks, head of DevOps, I'm not sure. Garima Bal Canada, DevOps Community of Practice. Fatima, Sarah Khalid, ev, Aaron Kins, Bruner Alet, Soto, Aman, Amanda Lewis.

And the winner of this year's top DevOps evangelist is Fat Fatima. Let me make sure I get this right. Fatima, Sara Kali, congratulations, fat, uh, Fatima, we've been following you and, uh, great work this year and you well deserved.

Okay, moving on to category seven, best DevOps transformation for a non vendor. Woo. Okay, this is as digital transformation accelerates, which organizations stood out in their efforts to transform their business through DevOps.

Um, we have PQE alternative Chaotic Complexity Domain Sequencing by Edwin John Paul Venning, data, Morgana Labs, Peral Science, BV Peral Science, Informatica by Grafana Labs, Humana, BMC, along with BMC software, CGI life and health insurance and and DevOps team. And the winner of this year's Best DevOps transformation is the Para People Science BV team. Congratulations.

Well deserved best DevOps transformation for 2023. All right, moving along to category eight, best DevOps event of the year. And again, any tech strong events we're, uh, ineligible for this award.

So the nominees are swamp up by jfr passed OUTTA Community Summit, Redgate software, Grafana Con 2023 Grafana Labs, galaxy 23 by LaunchDarkly Darkly DevOps World 2023, CloudBees DevOps Exchange by the DevOps Exchange. And the winner for, uh, best DevOps event of the year is Jfr for their Swamp Up. So I, I was present at Swamp Up this year in San Jose.

It was an amazing, uh, conference and congratulations to shlomi and the whole JFR team well deserved. Moving on to category nine of the community awards most innovative DevOps open source project. The category finalist were tenable for Terra scan.

Tenable Open source. Open rewrite. Open rewrite, rewrite.

Modern Jenkins from the Jenkins community. GSA Open Mainframe Project, frog Bot from the Jfr team. Edwin Jen Gene Paul Venning Data.

Morgan Labs coder os from the coder team, Excuse Me, A P goat from Tenable Open source bail from Grafana Labs. Alec, A LAC AI generator for infrastructure is code from Firefly, some great up and coming open source, very innovative companies there, very innovative projects there. But the winner for this year's most innovative DevOps open source project is Jenkins.

And let's hear it for Jenkins. You know, they, it's recent survey I saw Jenkins still controls 43% of the CICD market. They continue to innovate and grow and worthy, worthy of, of this year's award.

Congratulations to the Jenkins community. Category 10 in the community awards this year, DevOps executive of the year And this category celebrates excellence among DevOps leaders at the C-suite or equivalent. And it was open to non vendors and some people didn't necessarily follow that, but it nevertheless is the finalist are Kavitha, SLU, TCS, garima, bj Paul Canada, DevOps Community of Practice.

I'm skipping over finalists who were in fact vendors. The winner of this year's DevOps executive of the year is Garima BJJ Powell from Canada, DevOps community of practice Garima You, I happen to know Garima personally. She does a great job.

She's a tremendous evangelist, a tremendous leader in the DevOps community and very deserving of this award. Alright, moving over to category 11 of the DevOps Dozen awards community best DevOps presentation of the year. And this is the category that recognizes the best DevOps theme presentation from the many conferences held during the year.

Here we go. It's time to rip off the training wheels and enable end-to-end automation. A share Atlanta 2023 presentation by Tony Anter and Mark Shedden helm of BMC software beyond Agile audit, beyond agile auditing by Clarissa Lucas vs.

And yes, it's congratulations of worthy, worthy winner of this year's category of DevOps doesn't. Now we're on to category 12. com article of the year and the finalist are vs.

Congratulations and, uh, well deserved. Okay, now moving over to the second half of our DevOps dozen awards. And these are the awards for, uh, commercial companies and tools and services.

The first category is Best end-to-end DevOps tools and service. And this was a category that we had so many people nominate. We actually had two sets of finalists so that people can go through and vote and we thought that would help help the voting and make it easier for people who vote to, to wade through it.

However, there is only one winner on the category. So I'm going to go through all of the finalists from both, uh, group A and group B before naming the winner. The finalist and the best end-to-end DevOps tool service are the Netlify platform, Netlify source graphs, code AI platforms from source soft graphs, source graph, PagerDuty, process automation, PagerDuty, Morpheus, version six from Morpheus Data Harness or for a delivery platform, COPPA by coppa Bit rise by bit.

The jfr software supply supply chain platform by Jfr digital ai, AI powered DevSecOps platform digital AI B-M-C-A-M-I, dev X from BMC and the winner of best end-to-end DevOps tools and service is Jfr software supply chain platform by jfr well deserved congratulations to jfr in a hyper competitive, uh, category with many, many great choices in there. All right, moving on to category 14.

Best DevOp, best DevOps repo GI ops tool or service. We had GI stream by linear B and actually they were the only finalists in there. This was not a, well, not a lot of, uh, nominations in this category.

So linear B GI Stream is the winner for the DevOps dozen category this year for 2023. Congratulations to them. Category 15, best CICD tool.

And I should emphasize this is C-I-N-C-D, not just CD and not just ci. The nominees or the finalists are Ops MX secure CD from S MX Octopus. And the winner for best value stream management tool goes to Broadcom for their broad, uh, excuse me, value ops by Broadcom. Congratulations to Broadcom well deserved. Okay, moving along.

Category 17, best observability solution. So again, this was a category where we had so many worthy nominees that we actually had two lists of finalists to make it easier for voting. Uh, the finalists from both lists for best observability solution are the New Relic all in one observability platform.

New Relic Stack State by Stack State, observe by OBSERV Inc. io open 360 platform honeycomb honeycomb io edge Delta by edge Delta, and the Cisco observability platform by Cisco B-M-C-A-M-I-Z advisor for enterprise BMC. And the winner for the best observability solution is Grafana Labs and well deserved.

And you know, Grafana has helped establish the graf, the observability market, and I, I think just a well, well deserved, uh, award for the Grafana cloud free tier. Congratulations to them. Okay, moving along now to category, almost there.

Moving along to category 18 Best DevSecOps solution. Again, a category where we had so many worthy nominees that we had wound up with so many finalists, we broke it into two to make it easy to, uh, vote the the nominees for best DevSecOps Solution Progress Chef by Progress. So great to see Chef Pioneer in the DevOps community's name out there Men application security platform by our friends at Men GitLab, the DevSecOps Company, digital AI powered DevSecOps platform.

Congratulations. Okay, moving on to category 20. Best Kubernetes platform or service And the finalist are Refe Systems by Refe Systems.

Helix by Lightbend Edge, Delta by Edge Delta BMC, helix Operations Management with AI S by BMC. And the winner for best Kubernetes platform service is Refe Systems. You know, congratulations to afe.

They're an up and coming company and they've done great work and I think this is a well deserved award. Next category, 21, best ggl, best cloud native security solution or service. Okay, moving along now to category 22, best DevOps for mainframe solution. Another very hotly contested space. If you don't know that mainframe DevOps space is on fire.

The, the, uh, nominees this year are wze deployed by IBM Rocket DevOps by Rocket Software popup mainframe by popup mainframe code fours or code four Z by Broadcom, B-M-C-A-M-I Dev X tool suite by BMC software. And the winner is B-M-C-A-M-I Dev X tool suite by BMC software. Congratulations.

Congratulations to all of the competitors and finalists in that category. Category was a tight category. Okay, moving on to category 23, best DevOps for data, data ops or database solutions.

Okay, category 24, the last category we're almost done folks. Best new DevOps tool service provider, or as I call it, the rookie of the year. Uh, these companies have to be less than 24 months old.

We knew AI was gonna show up in there somewhere. I can guarantee you there will be more AI in next year's DevOps dozen award winners. That wraps up the 2023 DevOps award announcements.
