This is texturing TV. Hey everyone. We're here.
We're back in Detroit day two of our coverage on the show floor here from Cubecon Cloud native con just looking around. It's a little early yet. I don't know people just filtering and coming out of sessions.
I would very first guest days in a company new to our audience. I want to introduce you to say hello to Roy, right? Rob home Roy is the CEO of a company called thin out f i n o u t and as you can probably tell from the name fin out is a thin Ops company synops Foundation is always a big presence here at Uconn and Roy, welcome.
Welcome to Tech strung TV. Yeah. Thank you Alan for having me.
So Roy, let's before we get into fin now. Let's hear a little bit about the Royale story. Yeah, right.
Yeah your journey so like man is really found. There's a Saturday my way in he's really military the and the intelligence unit and there are 8200 exactly suspend their Way too many years and you know after after I left the military I wanted to do something completely the opposite right? So I joined a super small startup back then called log Zeo.
It's kind of a data box one competitor. All right, no logs. Well actually Carl.
Yeah, John was here, you know there. Yeah. So I joined Luxio in like 10 people standing in an old bridal salon, you know in the port of Tel Aviv, one of the full The Full Experience for Israeli startups after, you know being such a huge unit.
So I spend their around five six years and then I moved to start dinner. actually and then well, let's first find out what what's Finn I said it was fin Ops but fin out is the name of the company. What what's the like what made you start this company?
So back in log say oh it was a the director engineering responsible for the entire infrastructure. And you know Cloud cost a lot. Yeah, and I just increasing and increasing and increasing both in volume right in quantity of the invoices.
So edible. Yes in Azure and gcp and snowflake in the other login like the amount of user device price software we need to pay is just growing right and management started to ask us a great questions that we cannot answer like is database growth makes sense. Like does it does it match the business or how much do you pay for specific customer is this feature profitable?
What's the minimal pricing beginning for something again? Great questions, but unfortunately we could just could not answer any with the current building in the market. So we decided that we need a better product.
We need something newer that can actually, you know adapt to the modern Cloud native Solutions. We need to have better support for kubernetes. We need to have better support for external services and we need to be able to correlate our business together with with the cost.
And this is the foundation of of being out and why we started that actually and when did you start the company? So Finance was born around a year and a half ago. We raised 18 and a half million dollars since and running as fast as we can, you know to build the Next Generation so I don't think it's a startup thing.
Yeah. And is this your first cubecon? You've been Cube con before so our first Cape Town was in Valencia.
Well, if you yeah and it was amazing, then it was amazing here. It's always fun, you know the context of cities that that they never been in so have Valencia Detroit. I don't think I would like that beautiful city Detroit for me.
A little bit but something from Tel Aviv, you know. Yeah, I I live in South Florida. It's freezing here, but you're right, you know kudos to the Linux foundations Cloud native Computing Foundation.
They pick cities where a show like this can really be a big booty. Yeah. It is to the economy, but let's talk a little bit, you know finopsis become finops in general.
It's from a very high topic because like you said. It's it's Cloud sprawl whether you're going on. on cloud native Oh, it's snowflake or you know serverless.
It just seems to never end. No one's Cloud bill ever goes down. It's almost like it's like time, you know, they say you can't go backwards in time.
You can only go forward. Yeah, so it's Cloud builds. Yeah, you never go down.
They only go up it seems that's the basic paradigm. you know, so how what is fin up thin out to do that really helps with that? So phenot can help companies Implement finops.
Right? So films is a concept that is meant to to educate Engineers to get them to be more responsible and accountable for what they're doing. So same as we did with devops and operations like five years ago.
Now we're doing the same for cloud financial management and solution like phenote can help companies take their entire usage base spend put it all into one place in Richard as much as they can, you know, so break down Styles like kubernetes like, you know, history folders tables snowflake queries. I think that are not appearing in the regular bills, right so we can enrich that information to give them just one Mega bill that calls everything starting from that build. They can create their own cost of location rules.
They can tie the cost to Unity economics. They can correlate the cost you to your customers and it can actively save money, you know by running optimization across of their entire bills and see like how do you react to one another actually and how do people kind of engage with you on this? So starting out is is very simple something that That we do and we take very pride of is that we're very very easy to integrate.
So even you know to get kubernetes cost. We're the only vendor that does not require any agent that we can just connect to daflog or just connect to the existing Prometheus and fetch the metrics that we need from there. So even starting, you know to get kubernetes level breakdown with Finance for your Cloud cost is a matter of five minutes and we're not extrapolating right?
So we're not checking the instance cost on AWS calculator and just say what it's actually instant price after EDP is after saving after spots after whatever so companies can really see their entire breakdown of of the cost and really allocated to wherever makes sense. I love it good stuff. All right.
So let's say someone says this sounds great. I want to check it out. Walk us through how did they engage with you?
io. You can start a free trial. We have a we have a few period right?
It's very easy to to work with us. We have a dedicated finops Engineers gaming that can help our customer, you know, achieve better results and doing board with fan out to and to actually save money on their on the cloud bills to is it like just installing an agent would it how does it purely an API? We're just connect to your age.
Yeah the custom usage report from AWS to be query table in gcp to data log to wherever using API nothing need to be installed on Prem right? It's very easy to start. I love it.
And how's it priced? So we have price based in tears. So each dear friends you access to send us more data.
So more dollars that I passed throughout and to use more Integrations and you know, the more integration to use the more data that the centiping out the higher the value that you can get both on savings and visibility. We are the cheapest solution currently in the market like we can beat any pricing that anyone got from any of our competitors. I love it.
Very cool. It's been out that IO exactly fantastic Roy. Thank you on our show.
So pleasure. Check it out, you know if if like us like me your Cloud goes to going up every month. Maybe it's time to have a little understanding about what's in there and try to get a hold on it thin out.
Then that I owe it's great fin obstacle solution. We're gonna take a break. We're live in Detroit.
We'll be right back.
