What’s The One Piece Of Infra You’d Never Let AI Touch
Where should organizations draw the line when giving AI control over critical infrastructure? Security leaders discuss why identity and access management, privileged credentials, key management and recovery systems require human oversight. Explore the risks of autonomous AI, the importance of protecting trusted data, and how enterprises can balance AI-driven monitoring and automation with human accountability.

The infrastructure I would protect the most is the identity and trust control plane. Identity and access management. I think the recovery layer, full stop.
The one piece of infrastructure I'd never let AI touch is thinking time. The identity and key management infrastructure that defines who or what an organization trusts. Anything where a wrong call has an irreversible consequence.
Those are the things that need a human in the loop, full stop. I would absolutely let AI monitor the environment, find anomalies, recommend changes. I would not give it autonomous authority to issue privileged credentials.
There's a reasonable trade-off to take the guardrails off in that case. But clean, verified, immutable versions of truth, that data, I don't think you should ever rely on AI touching.
