I hope AI takes every part of my profession that eventually gets boring. I hope that AI takes a significant amount of the administrative and analytical work that prevents consultants and technology leaders from spending enough time with customers. AI should absolutely take the work of connecting signals across systems, once the infrastructure is built to capture it in the right way.
Well, I hope that AI takes all of the things I don't like doing, but specifically, the initial drafts of reports that I need to write. I want AI to handle our low-value, time-consuming operational tasks, as well as be a thought partner for our most strategic work. But I never want it to touch genuine human advocacy.
I hope AI takes the repetitive analytical work that slows down good teams' work. What I hope AI handles is the stuff that gets in the way of the work workers are actually proud of. Honestly, it's a weird world we live in, because I had hoped when I dreamed about the future of AI, that AI would do all the stuff that I didn't want to do, and that AI robots would take out the trash so that I could focus on writing songs and poems and things.
But instead, we live in this weird world where AI writes songs and poems, and I still have to take out the trash.
