Liquibase Secure 6.0 Puts Guardrails on AI Database Changes
Database change governance is becoming critical as AI agents start touching production. Alan Shimel welcomes back Ryan McCurdy, VP of Marketing at Liquibase. Furthermore, Ryan walks through the new Liquibase Secure 6.0 release and what it means for teams adopting AI.
What is new in Liquibase Secure 6.0
Liquibase Secure 6.0 is the company’s annual release. In addition, it acts as a control plane for changes across many database types and instances. Most enterprises run 10 or more database types, sometimes with thousands of instances.
The new Change Intelligence module shows failed deployments, policy violations and drift. Meanwhile, it also tells teams what broke and how to fix it. The release adds a reimagined visual policy engine that makes policies and exceptions easier to scale. Consequently, role based access control now helps prove separation of duties.
From AI pilots to production
Most teams already use Claude, Cursor and Copilot to generate more code. However, mature teams now let agents create, test and deploy changes. Therefore, Ryan argues agents are only as good as the database change governance around them. Agents work on probabilities, so guardrails are needed to keep production changes deterministic.
Databases move to the front line
Alan notes that databases are no longer trailing other parts of the stack. As a result, AI is pushing data and databases to the cutting edge. Furthermore, Liquibase lets teams standardize how changes are managed without standardizing their databases. That brings databases into CI/CD with self service, guardrails and compliance visibility.

Liquibase Secure 6.0 is generally available today. In addition, the Liquibase services team helps large banks and retailers scale their rollouts.
